In partnership with the Njikwa council, this project provided WASH kits to IDPs and improved access to clean water for the rural population of Bakwa. Community Feedback

Name: Isacc

Role: School Head Teacher

Project: School WASH Initiative

Many young girls face challenges in accessing WASH
products, and sometimes used grass, leaves, and dirty clothes for
menstrual hygiene. Thanks to LUSUDEV’s intervention, girls attending school here in Oshie now have access to appropriate products, school attendance and performance have increased, and the initiative has significantly enhanced the overall health and well-being of students.

Name: Mary

Role: Groundnut smallholder farmer/Participant

Project: Climate-smart agriculture: Empowering women smallholder groundnut farmers

LISUDEV’s training has really boosted my understanding and confidence. Before this training, I was farming groundnuts the way I learned from my parents, without knowing why my yields were always low. Through this training, I learned how to prepare my land properly, select improved seeds and manage pests. For the first time, I also learned how to keep farm records. This has changed the way I see farming, not just as hard work, but as a business that can support my family. I am confident that my next harvest will be better, and my income will increase.

Name: Glory

Role: Internally Displaced Person (IDP)

Project: Breaking Barriers: Ending Period Poverty in Schools

Through LISUDEV’s sexual and reproductive training I learned about my body,
my rights, or how to protect myself. I learned about menstrual hygiene, how to prevent early pregnancy and also gained
access to menstrual products. Now, I feel confident, informed, and empowered
to make better choices for my future. I wish every girl in rural communities, especially
the IDPs, could have this opportunity.
